Health Sciences

Health Science Graduate Program (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)

Program Description

The Graduate Program in Health Sciences was created in 1995 with the aim of bringing together the then small number of researchers in the School into a single program. Twenty-four years after its creation, there is no doubt about the great contribution of this Program to Brazilian society, with formation of human resources, scientific advances that have been obtained, exchange of knowledge with foreign researchers, and improvement of intellectual production, not only for the School of Health Sciences, where it started, but also for the other units of the University of Brasilia.

In the year 2018, the Graduate Program in Health Sciences graduated 1464 graduate students (1,017 masters and 447 doctors) from various regions of Brazil, mainly the Midwest and North. A large number of these alumni are teaching in undergraduate and graduate programs (including master's and doctoral programs) in public and private universities. In addition, several alumni are working in federal, state and municipal public services. It is important to note that, despite the fact that the vast majority of the students come from the Midwest and North region, this program has also received students from outside Brazil, primarily from Latin America and Africa.
