Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)

Program Description

The Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS-UnB) was created in 1972, first with the Master's program and, in 1981, with the Doctoral program. In its more than 40 years of existence, the Program has taken an unquestionable leadership role in Brazilian anthropology with regard to research, reception and training of researchers and relationships with other programs, research institutions, government agencies and associations in Brazil and abroad. The projection and international presence of PPGAS-UnB ensure very fruitful cooperation agreements, both those established with institutions and those for individual activities developed by teachers and students.

The purpose of PPGAS-UnB is to train high-level professionals, teachers and researchers for higher education and for research activities in public or private institutions for which anthropological knowledge is required. The master's degree aims at the theoretical training in Social Anthropology and the development of research skills in the area of concentration.
