Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology)
Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)
Program Description
The Graduate Program in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology) (PPG BioMol) was launched in 1973, with the creation of the Master's Degree Program in Molecular Biology, composed of advisors from the Department of Cellular Biology of the University of Brasilia. This newcomer group arrived at the then young University and brought a scientific approach focused on the Molecular and Cellular basis of biological processes. With the growth of faculty numbers and the establishment of the doctoral program in 1992, new areas were added, with a special mention to Molecular Plant Genetics and Biological Control.
The Program's mission is to train professionals with scientific competence and independence in Molecular Biology and in the related major areas: Biochemistry, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Immunology, Cellular Biology, Virology, Genetics, Genomics and Proteomics.
