Economics
Economics (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)
Program Description
The Graduate Program of the Department of Economics of the University of Brasilia started with the academic Master's program in 1973. This program has trained over 180 masters over 30 years. Several of these master's dissertations have received awards such as the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) Economics Award and, more recently, the Brazilian National Treasury Secretariat award. Just over twenty years after the start of the Master's degree, the Department of Economics of the University of Brasilia decided to implement the doctoral program in 1996.Despite being a new program, it has already formed a considerable number of students and doctors.
The program aims to prepare teachers and researchers for higher education and to train highly qualified professionals for the public and private sectors. To ensure the excellence of the graduate program, the Department of Economics at the University of Brasilia has highly qualified faculty, which have exclusive dedication to research and extension activities. The profile of the faculty allows graduate students to be exposed to a variety of approaches to key economic science issues. Such diversity allows the development of a critical vision essential to the formation of masters and doctors. Thus, we believe that the presence of teachers linked to the most diverse currents of thought is one of the greatest assets of the Department of Economics of the University of Brasilia.
