International Affairs Office
The University of Brasilia (UnB) graduates citizens of the world – scholars interested in major global issues and in the main problems of humanity. It is the responsibility of UnB to prepare students and researchers to take part in a multicultural society and to help them become citizens of the world.
Strategically located in the capital of Brazil, the University of Brasilia has been establishing itself internationally as an important academic hub. Connection with the decision-making bodies of national politics, diplomatic representations, international organizations and development agencies is a driving force for UnB’s internationalization policy, encouraging the flow of students, professors and migrant researchers.
The International Affairs Office promotes the dialogue between the academy and other parts of the world. It enables the communication with research agencies and foreign institutions of higher education, supports and implements technical, scientific, and cultural cooperation agreements, and promotes exchanges of undergraduate and graduate students.
In 1987, the Support Center for Exchange and International Programs was created. INT started in 1997 as an advisory unity for UnB’s President’s Office and has been expanding its areas of operation. There are currently over 250 cooperation agreements in place with institutions from the five continents. The agreements allow the students and faculty members to travel from Brasilia to other parts of the world and vice versa, promoting teaching and research, as well as collaborations on community extension programs.
