Geotechnical Engineering
Graduate Program in Geotechnical Engineering (Master's and Doctoral Degrees)
Program Description
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Brasilia implemented, in 1989, the Master's Program in Geotechnics and, in 1995, the Doctoral program. Over the past few years, the consolidation of UnB's Graduate Program in Geotechnical Engineering has contributed to the qualification of the faculty, the increase in technical and scientific production, the awards (national and international) of teachers, the participation in examination boards, competitions, Brazilian Federal Agency for Post-graduate Education (CAPES), and CNPq evaluation committees, editorial boards of national and international scientific and technical journals, joint research, advising and agreements and the acquisition and development of new laboratory and field equipment.
This program has as general objectives the formation of qualified human resources in the area of geotechnics and the development of quality research. In addition, the program aims to train masters and doctors in this area in order to strengthen the dissemination of knowledge and the implementation of best building techniques in the area, as well as the establishment of research agreements with research centers of excellence in Brazil and abroad.
